The Eamont Way
The Eamont Way, a new five mile footpath from Penrith to Pooley through farmlands and fields, following the river Eamont open from April 2023. The map below was created by our very own Colin Hindle. A great way to travel to Pooley Bridge, and you can catch the bus back if you don’t fancy the return walk.
On Friday 23rd October 2020, Pooley ‘New’ Bridge opened to vehicles and pedestrians, nearly five years to the day since the old, stone bridge fell in the wake of Storm Desmond. And the first to cross it? A flock of sheep driven by local farming family, the Coulstons. The elegant new bridge has won several architectural awards already and can be seen fully from our garden.
